Yada yada, ultimately EC got the amp, which he used on the album I mentioned above. Dumble says it belongs to Bob, we'll have to ask him. Eric sees the Bandmaster and asks if he can try it out. Then, one day, Dumble gets a shop visit from Eric Clapton. So, he asked his friend Alexander Dumble if he could work on the Bandmaster to help him achieve this. He tried the more recent reissues, and they didn't sound right either. Trouble was, Bob couldn't find a vintage Bandmaster that sounded right. One of those tones was the Pete Townshend Who's Next tone, for which he used a Gretsch Country Gentleman and tweed Bandmaster. he seeks out the guitars and amps that have made some incredibly iconic sounds, and not only uses them in his productions when needed, but enjoys them himself in a teenaged fantasy sort of way. Bob talks a lot about how he's "collected tones" over his career. Then, just recently, I notice there's a Bob Rock episode of Tone Talk! Holy cow, Christmas just came early. I listened to the album, tried to imagine what Dumble's approach might have been knowing what i've learned from some of his other amps, and ultimately built something that accomplished my goal and most importantly satisfied my customer. I remember reading an interview with Clapton where he mentioned using Dumble-modified tweeds, including a Bandmaster, on one of his recent studio albums ( I Still Do). My listening taste has evolved a lot, but i still dig those albums.Ĭut to a year and a half ago, a customer asked if I could build him a 5E7 tweed Bandmaster 3x10" combo, with Montrose and Pete Townshend tones in mind. Studio engineering led to tech work which ultimately led to building tube amps for me, full circle over 25 years or so. Being a guitarist, I was fascinated by the lengths Bob went to capture and enhance guys like Hetfield and Mick Mars, and there isn't a bad tone on those albums in my opinion. Feelgood, and the old VHS of the making of Metallica's black album is what got me into sound engineering in the first place. if you just want the goods and aren't interested in my take, here ya go:įirst, i've been a big fan of Bob Rock's work going back to Dr. I got a kick out of this, and thought I'd share it for those who may not watch Tone Talk.

To watch tonight’s conversation live, please click here or here tonight at 7 p.m. Laura Morgan Roberts and Tony Mayo, two of the three editors of Race, Work and Leadership, will be live on our show tonight at 7 p.m. What does it mean to be black in corporate America today? How are racial dynamics in organizations changing? How do we build inclusive organizations? Northwestern would go on to win by that margin.Race, Work, and Leadership is a rare and important compilation of essays that examines how race matters in people’s experience of work and leadership. Northwestern took over after a turnover on downs, forced Iowa to burn their timeouts, then kicked the backbreaking field goal to go up 16-7. It took the Hawkeyes all four downs to get one first down, and they wouldn’t get another. Iowa got the ball on their own 7, down by 6, with 2 minutes to play. Facing a potentially season-defining crisis (should they blow the game), Northwestern’s offense managed just one first down before punting. Like clockwork, Northwestern surrendered a 7-play, 75 yard drive to cut the lead to 14-7. As the quarter ended, Northwestern was threatening in the red zone thanks to a 42-yard strike to Rashad Lawrence.Ī holding penalty followed by a sack forced the ‘Cats to settle for a field goal, making the score 13-0 early in the 4th. Most of the rest of the third quarter was characterized by punts (3 more, bringing the game total to 10). With the offense rolling like that, it seemed like a good idea to go for 4th-and-1 in the red zone, but Iowa stuffed the inside run by Green and the Wildcats came away empty-handed on a promising drive, but NU still led 10-0. Northwestern got the ball to start the second half and started with four straight handoffs to Treyvon Green, each going for seven yards or more. On four possessions inside the Northwestern 40, Iowa went punt, punt, lost fumble, turnover on downs. The Hawkeyes really struggled to maintain drives. It was a pretty forgettable half for both teams, as there were 7 combined punts and each team had a turnover. Northwestern got the ball last in the first half, and scored a the game’s first TD with 2 seconds left in the half thanks to a 22-yard pass from Colter to Tony Jones. Northwestern couldn’t capitalize on the momentum swing, punting again, but Iowa couldn’t move the ball, either. Northwestern went three-and-out and Iowa again drove the ball into Northwestern territory, this time coming up short on a 4th-and-4 from the NU 39. This time, a fumble by QB Jake Rudock was recovered by Collin Ellis and the ‘Cats held the shutout. Iowa’s next drive took them most of the length of the field, but they again couldn’t score from inside the NU 40. Kain Colter’s interception in the first quarter was particularly hard to watch. Northwestern then put together an 11-play, 45-yard drive that ended with a long Jeff Budzien field goal. Kain Colter threw an interception on the Wildcats’ first possession, but Iowa couldn’t capitalize, leading to a punt and touchback. They punted from near midfield, forcing Northwestern to start from their own 3. Iowa tried a mix of run and pass on their first drive, with limited success. Northwestern will play without its star back in the simulation and in real life. However, since Mark is out on Saturday against Iowa, we’re back to the simulated season. In the simulated season, Venric Mark suffered a season-ending injury during the Ohio State game, so, in order to not go against the weekly injury report, I used the “play now” feature to get Mark back in the lineup. In the interest of full disclosure, I feel compelled to say that I cheated a little bit in weeks past. WNUR Sports Online Content Director Cameron Songer ( uses NCAA Football 14 to predict the winner of Northwestern at Iowa. We questioned the sanitation of the counter, her hands, etc.Her attitude was quite smug. The lack of professionalism was overwhelming. As we ate, the same female worker walked around behind the counter drinking out of a ceramic mug.Laughing and messing around. When we got our food, the sandwich was cold-cheese was ice cold and the latte was terrible. As we continued to wait, another patron came back to the counter because his donuts were not what he ordered. She wasn't sure which muffin was a chocolate chip and touched them all. She needed help to even ring it up right. Another employee stated that they were up above because they weren't good. As we waited for a muffin, breakfast sandwich and 2 coffees, she ate donuts at the front counter- and loudly complained how bad they were. When she asked what we wanted, we needed to repeat our order 4x for her to. When we approached the counter, the worker was struggling to help others ahead of us. We had lots of time one morning to enjoy breakfast-should have gone somewhere else. Anyone know where I can get a tasty Apple Fritter? That lacked expectations as well. I simply indicated, at a respectful volume and tone, “If you can’t make the order, don’t take the order.” Buyers beware of Tim Horton’s particularly this location. I stated that the front counter personnel should be advised so they could subsequently advise customers but she couldn’t have heard me as she continued yelling at me and pointing to some small print on the menu board. She began yelling at me that they don’t have the necessary syrup to make Chai Tea Lattes. I explained the situation and she turned to what may have been the manager or assistant manager who, unfortunately, lacked management skills and professionalism. When I took my coffee drink back to the counter to explain that I did not get what I ordered, I had to stand there for a very long time before an associate acknowledged my presence. How surprised I was that my beverage was a hot coffee of some sort. The counter associate took my order (and my money) gave me the fritter and I picked up my beverage at the end of the counter. I ordered the fritter and a Chai Tea Latte. So I went to this one which was near my house. concluded my best chance of obtaining one was at Tim Horton’s. However, I had been craving an Apple Fritter and. I have never been a big fan of Tim Horton’s despite the long lines in Canada. I would give this Tim Horton’s a negative 1-score but that is not an option. This tradition dates back to the first millennium bce with scholars as famous as Pāṇini, whose Aṣṭādhyāyī can be considered the first comprehensive grammar of the Vedic language. Also, Vedic is at the root of a long and influential tradition of linguistic description and analysis. First, the Vedic corpus plays an important role in historical linguistics because of its extensive and early attestation. The creation of a treebank for an otherwise under-resourced language such as Vedic is highly welcome for various reason. Vedic Sanskrit (henceforth Vedic) is an ancient Indo-Aryan language, transmitted by a large corpus of poetry and prose texts. 2020) is a recent addition to this growing body of syntactically annotated corpora. Our paper follows in the wake of other contributions concerned with the process of building linguistic resources for ancient languages, such as the proiel treebanks 1 of early Indo-European languages ( Eckhoff et al. the Penn treebank), an increasing number of treebanks of ancient languages has been published in recent years. While earlier endeavors in annotating syntactic structure were largely confined to modern languages (e.g. Over the past decades, treebanks have become indispensable tools for studying syntactic and morphological phenomena and for enhancing Natural Language Processing ( nlp).
